Stop Sending Jobs Overseas

Posted by ersimonetti 573 days ago (Suggestion)
American companies and the American Government should not be allowed to send jobs to India and China just because their labor cost is cheaper per hour. We have lost millions of our jobs because American companies think they are saving money in the short run, but they are hurting our economy. Even our own government is using India for computer jobs. It should be illegal to use other countries to do anything that can be done here including all the manufacturing done overseas for American companies. This is only destroying our country, helping other countries, and putting some extra money into the hands of a few companies that would still be making money if they kept all the jobs in this country. The United States of America should come first. Please vote to make it illegal to send job Read More »

GIVE PREFERENCE TO THOSE ON ENEMPLOYMENT..........

This is a touchy subject but must be addressed. California has now legalized marijuana in such a way that it is regulated and taxed, with major return to the government. We are currently spending money to find, bust, prosecute and jail people that could instead be running legal businesses as medical dispensaries under regulated rules. People who are purchasing weed will do it regardless of legality, why not make money from it?

Medical Marijuana is proven through research to help in several common medical cases. There are benefits all around the board after making the first step to federal legalization. Tax money will come from new businesses (income) that will need new workers (job creation). Which will highly interest people that were of non-violent marijuana charges; who are onl Read More »
Provide tax break on employer tax. Currently each employer pays 50% of tax on Social security and Medicare. Provide subsidize group plan for medical insurance provided by employer. This will help employer to keep employee and allow them to reduce their overheads. It may stop outsourcing at certain level. Read More »
There are thousands of former students, like myself, who failed - for a myriad of reasons - to settle and /or remit the monies owed on their Student loans. Again, as in my case, the original loans are over 25 years old, have multiplied to a crushing amount, and leave the debtors with no realistic means to ever settle them in their lifetime. I have no doubt that each and every debtor has their own personal story that explains their failure to honor the commitment to repay the Government for its aid in our education. Sadly, in my own circumstances, I was guilty of an attitude of apathy and irresponsibility during the first decade after school education ended. Jobs in my area of study were sorely lacking, and the ones I took hardly paid enough for room and board. When the Education Dept. beg Read More »

Intercoastal waterway

Posted by ragman 570 days ago (Suggestion)
Attn. President Obama: What we have to do, is open up our inter coastal waterway, that runs from the state of NJ to FL.There is alot of work to be done on this project, its not wide enough or deep enough in a lot of areas, This is vital, for our country, most of our cargo ships can not get through, or pleasure boats can get from one destination to the other. By passing this into your stimulus package, you would be creating jobs, from New York to Florida putting thousands of people to work, and doing one project that is good for our country. Read More »

National rail system

Posted by jcasconi 467 days ago (Suggestion)
we need a national project to build a national railroad, we could take general Motors and re-tool the factories and re-train the worker to build railroad cars and related rail items generators engines bridges railroad ties and tracks . this would be a green project lessening our dependence on foreign oil.A rail system would alleviate traffic cut down on pollution and put millions to work everyone from engineers to factory workers . i know it sounds simplistic but think of all the workers needed to undergo a national project like this we could revive the auto factories and all the displaced factory workers and at the same time help save the planet by using less oil and gas . this could be a win win scenario Read More »

I Am Part of the Economic Crisis

Posted by HookerLe 574 days ago (Suggestion)
Good evening Mr. President.

I am individual who has worked since I was 19 years old. I was conferred a B.S. degree in Business Administration. After being let go from a job I had held for 20 years due to restructuring I went to work within a church for the next eight years. I once again was restructured out of a job. Unable to apply for unemployment benefits because I worked for a non-for-profit, I began my search and had some interviews but I did not get a new job before eleven months had past. I now have two part time jobs that take me from the west suburbs to the south side of Chicago each day. Together these jobs do not begin to make my ends meet. I am grateful for what I have but I really need full time employment with a decent salary.

My husband and I are also feeling the cru Read More »

Solution for Welfare Reform AND Economic Crisis

Posted by jreale 406 days ago (Suggestion)
Welfare system abusers, lazy people, no incentives to go off of welfare, and depression.

All of these can be fixed with one program. An official United States rail system upgrade.

Unfortunately Amtrak has a primary role within this infrastructure already, it's possible for our government to intervene and make the best, most effecient, greenest, badest, rail system in the world.

Other nations already have a rail system that is super fast, reliable, and very quiet.

I believe the United States would definitely benefit from a super efficient rail system that runs from city to city, coast to coast. Just like air travel, these high speed rails could run from city to city, town to town, and have hubs for city to city travel.

This would increase travel, diversify our cities ev Read More »

Preserving/Creating more high tech (IT) jobs

Posted by tinu2walia 497 days ago (Suggestion)
If we were to give a major tax incentive to US companies which did not outsource at all nor hired H1 folks as employees or contractors, then the companies would have a major incentive in hiring US citizens over outsourcing or hiring folks from other countries.
In the long run this will preserve well paying brainy jobs in the US and will motivate students to go for higher education because they will have scope of finding a good job in the US itself even if they graduated with an engineering or computer science degree!!!
Now the companies will save a ton of money as they will pay 0 or very low corporate taxes in $ terms compared to what they would be saving by outsourcing. This is assuming that they have good profits of course:)
The US government can still income tax the employees so its Read More »

3 Million Jobs in three months

Posted by Veteran7777 219 days ago (Suggestion)
Mr President

Perhaps we need to step back before moving forward. I googled self-service gas stations learning that 48 of 50 states are self-service. How many jobs could be created nationwide at min wage or $10 per hour if these jobs were created? I'm guessing more the three million you need. I travel to Oregon now and then, it's easy to get use to having someone pump gas for you and it might help our employment situation. It's worth a try. Good Luck sir! Bob Lindsey Read More »
Mr. President,
The issue of imigration is important. I am a British subject
who married an american girl on 11th.May 2006. To-date
I still await my green card.!
Thus since I am involved with Interventional Cardiology
internationally. I cannot work since I cannot leave the country.
My wife and I ( when I become a citzen) support your efforts
to get this country on track. By reforming imigration, you
will help get people like me back to work and paying taxes!
good luck and God Bless you.

GIVE INCENTIVE TO COMPANIES HIRING OLDER WORKERS

Posted by Txrr50 410 days ago (Suggestion)
After working as a professional in a high tech field for over 25 years I was laid off. I am an engineer and survived many lay offs since 2000, and after 8 years of daily uncertainty, fear of losing the job etc, and not seen any raise for about 4 years, and with a salary raise of barely 11% over 9 years, the axe finally fell and I lost the job.
The thing that I notice now at my stage of life at 58, I get called for interviews, and in my opinion I have a very good interview, and I am very skilled and knowledgeable in the field interviewed for, and all I find at the end of the day that the job was filled with another candidate, and through my net work of friends I find it is a younger person with much less experience. I clearly get the feeling that I am being discriminated because of age. T Read More »

Let's fix two problems at the same time

Posted by tryingtobelieve 269 days ago (Suggestion)
I hope this is heard, a huge boost to our economy and better security for our country can be achieved. With the re-opening of a substantial number of military bases, we would not only create jobs to refurbish them, we would also lessen the vulnerability of the United States. In the case of 9/11, we could have had jets there quicker. Possibly the outcome could have been different. Read More »

Go back to making and using glass

Posted by ja1955 461 days ago (Suggestion)
We need to go back to using glass. Put people to work creating new or opening old glass factories. We have the resource of sand to make glass. Glass can be recycled more easily. Plastic needs to go.

Begin to use paper bags again an easily recycled product. Reopen our paper factories. Not all people can afford the reusable cloth bags.
We need to get rid of plastic bottles and bags.
We are destroying our environment.
All plastic bag and bottle factories need to be converted into recycling areas. The plastic was created here. A way to break down this product should take place in these factories. We do not want these people out of work.

We need to create jobs and not take any away. This is possible. Read More »
