Cut Huge Congressional Retirement Package

Posted by JTOM 573 days ago (Suggestion)
While you are capping the salaries of CEOS, work to lower the shamefully expensive retirement packages given to Congressional members. They're happy to wail about jobs, lost homes, and huge financial scams, but when it comes to hypocrisy, all of them accept the huge lifetime retirement package. If we applied the grossly unfair CPO and WEP provisions teachers (some teachers, some states) have to accept, they wouldn't earn a nickel after their service. Read More »

Don't Crack down on Gun Control

Posted by republicanpride 571 days ago (Suggestion)
Do not take away our weapons! It is our constitutional right to own them, by making it harder for good people to get weapons you will make us more vulnerable to criminals. Criminals don't go to the store and buy weapons from WalMart they get them illegally. I don't understand how cracking down on policies for citizens with good backgrounds is gonna help stop crime in any way. Read More »

Army and Navy FOOTBALL teams? WHY? WHY!

Posted by starzpizzeria 567 days ago (Suggestion)
The horrible, upbeat recruitment ads...offering great opportunities..."be army strong"...disgusting!

These recruiters are lower than assistant crack whores, and much less useful.

Seriously, does anyone see the need for army and navy college football? What does it prepare the young soldiers for? Let's get young people good jobs so they do not need to join the military as a last resort.

Do the recruiters and the parents know that young people realize that when they are encouraged to join the military, it is because they have nowhere else to go?

We can recruit prison inmates to enlist, and the mentally ill. LEAVE THE KIDS ALONE!!!! Read More »

Milking the welfare system

Posted by Phatmama36 573 days ago (Suggestion)
get the people who are able to work off, give them a short time limit to get a job and remove them, these people are draining the government needlessly. they get food stamps and sell them,( I worked at a gro. store where they did it in front of me, they offer to pay for someones gro. in exchange for cash), I had to use the welfare system when my son almost died and I had to pay it back, and I was a single mother, working full time, I almost lost my home because of it. you need to have the welfare system for the elderly and TRULY disabled not these folks that just don't want to work.If these folks got jobs and off welfare then that should help put money back instead of having to pull funds from other areas to cover the deficiencies.I have heard these folks brag about how they have the enti Read More »
I lost my job January, 2009. Fortunately for me I had enough money to make my next 2 house payments and I've landed a temporary job that will last me for a year. My suggestion is for our politicians to take a paycut themselves and pay freeze for the next 5 years. They vote to give themselves raises and I think that should change. We the American people vote them into office so I think that we should be the ones to say "yeah" or "nay" on whether or not they get a raise. My last raise was 3% and that only gave me $1,380.00 for the year. President Obama wants the executives at the companies seeking bailouts to have their salary cap at $500k a year. Well, I do believe that would work for Government employees as well and I can't imagine anyone making that kind of money. I can guarantee Read More »

Ditch Daschle

Does this guy really expect us to believe that he made an oversight when filing his taxes? Maybe he should lay off on the limo payments and hire a qualified accountant to do his taxes next time around. Read More »

Choose Your Terms Wisely!

The "No Lobbyists" rule went sourth when William Lynn III, a former lobbyist for Raytheon came on board as deputy defense secretary, and Tim Geithner hired a former lobbyist for Goldman Sachs as his new chief of staff.

Six of Obama's nominees for inner circle positions (cabinet posts, AG, Czars) have been dogged by ethics issues, serious conflicts of interest with their post, or outright ta Read More »

The Constitution of the United States

Posted by doctordonut 576 days ago (Suggestion)
Please read and try to comprehend the Constitution of the United States. This document has as much significance today as it had 200 plus years ago and is written in a manner for anyone who can read and marginally comprehend English to understand. I beg of you, President Obama, to read this document carefully and order your staff, the congress and the entire nation to do likewise. The sooner we get back to the priciples of the Constitution the better for all. It will come about, if not sooner then later, after all else has failed and we have passed through a period of chaos and pain thereby left with no other choice. God bless the world. Read More »

TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESS!!!

Posted by scgagliardi 465 days ago (Suggestion)
Term limits for Congress will combat the rampant corruption and delusion that exists in our Congress. Too many members now are most concerned about raising money for their next election and maintaining a death grip on their power. As a result, they do not write (and often do not even read) legislation, but allow donors to submit legislation the legislators then champion. What's lost in this is true representation of the people. Members of Congress that have been on the hill for 20-30 years are typically clueless about what is going on in America and the needs of their constituents. None of our legislators are indispensable, and in fact most are worthless. We need new blood in Congress and a system which keeps fresh perspectives coming in, rather than stagnant relics hanging around Read More »

Pursue deadbeat parents

Posted by blondbomb 573 days ago (Suggestion)
I have struggled as a single parent to support four kids as a single parent. My ex-husband is over $125,000 behind in child support with an additional $60,000 in back medical expenses. I was recently laid off and was hit with a large tax bill due to the severance package paid in a lump sum plus a 401k loan coming due when my employment ended. I have been struggling to pay these taxes while nothing is being done to collect the back child support.

My ex has a land line home phone, but I'm told they can't locate him due to privacy laws. I believe that privacy should only be for those who comply with the law and care for their children. If the child support was collected, my IRS debt would be paid off and my children would have money for college.

Please do something for preventing dea Read More »

Government Officials need to set the example

Posted by rstaubscon 562 days ago (Suggestion)
Our elected officials MUST set the right example. We have millions of good American, tax-paying, hard-working citizens struggling right now to just pay their bills. Our elected officials are moving forward with their lives as if WE, the people for whom they are supposed to be working, should ignore their extravegances as if they were entitled. For example, Queen Pelosi is being flown back and forth to California every week at a cost to the taxpayers of $120,000 per weeek...and she only works (if that's what you want to call it) 3 days a week! You need to start at the top for any change to be effective. So, when is the top going to get on board? Read More »
You said you would have the most transparent administration ever. Turn over documentation regarding your place of birth, not the short form certificate of live birth being touted as proof of U.S. citizenship - it's not. College transcripts should also be released other presidents' have been, it is part of our history. Walk the talk big boy. Read More »

Money doesn't grow on trees

Posted by balancedcheckbook 465 days ago (Suggestion)
Mr. President:

It is very evident that your parents never told you money doesn't grow on trees. You have admitted the country is broke yet that doesn't stop your administrations free wheeling spending habits. Including your cross country rally this week, after making the statement over the weekend.

The Federal Government has no money, you are spending my money and everyone's that is ready this. You have a fiduciary responsibility to our country and you are failing.

Stop the spending. Read More »
