We not only need less dependence on foreign oil, but also dirty coal burning energy. To do this each American needs a bigger incentive to use alternative energy and have it installed on their home or property either solar panels and/or turbines. It costs over $20K to get anything substantial for solar panels. Too much for most homeowners to pay up front. I would love to be able to afford cleaner energy. There's got to be a way to make it happen, so everyone can do their part.

Using clean energy to help fund Federal Government

I like the idea of giving rebates and subsidies to make houses more energy efficient and other things to reduce our dependency on foreign oil. Why doesn't the federal government put up it's own solar, wind, and hydro farms on federal/military lands and sell the power back to utility companies. This would provide a long term income for the federal government to help shore up social security, reduce taxes, better our education system, etc. The possibilities are endless. We would increase our national security by reducing our dependence on foreign oil and provide a cleaner environment for our children's future.

I have noticed that the price of gas is going back up again while the price of a barrel of oil is going down. With the economy the way it is, I think the oil companies need to realize that people need not to choose between eating and getting gas for their cars. In some areas in the country, public transportation is not convenient. Do the big wigs at the oil companies choose between eating and filling up their cars? I don't think so. I think this is another attempt to make a profit off the backs of the American people. We don't need this again. I feel fortunate enough that I could afford to buy gas no matter the price. Sir, A hydrogen conversing for all vehicles is very cheap, and all car and truck dealers can do it for one to three hundred dollars. The conversion gives two to three times the gas millage for all motor driven vehicles. The converter makes the hydrogen as needed. No storage.

Use a heat collector(such as a roof, greenhouse, or sunroom) to convert solar energy into heat(thermal energy), then store the heat in a very large thermal mass, usually the dirt under the building. This heat is used to warm the building during the winter. This passive solar design is not disrupted by daily light conditions such as clouds. Government must take the lead in utilizing this energy resource. Our national budget can't afford to not use as much of this free energy as is practable. It also allows us to use our oil for other things like plastics, vehicle fuel, and medicines.
